On the second day spent at sea, Kel, Tommy, and I started our morning with a visit to the gym. Despite the crowd, we completed our weightlifting session within an hour. Kel did the treadmill and walked around. It was challenging for Tommy and me, as it had been a while since we lifted weights. Following our workout, we freshened up and prepared for the day ahead. We then headed to the buffet for breakfast. I enjoyed some codfish, fruit, and a refreshing green smoothie. I was going to have some scrambled eggs since I do enjoy eggs in the morning. However, Tommy saw the guy in front of us put his finger in his mouth and then get some eggs, so that made me not want eggs anymore. Ick!
After our meal, we continued our afternoon in the library, where we enjoyed playing the board game Catan. It took us a little while to refresh our memories of how to play, but it turned out to be a fun experience. I emerged as the winner of the game. Tommy and I realize we need to establish a routine for taking our medication, as we both forgot to do so earlier. We promptly returned to our room to retrieve our medication and brought it to the dining room, where we dined at a shared table with two other families. Although I usually feel awkward around new people, I think I managed just fine. I opted for the Spaghetti Aioli for lunch, although I was too full to finish.
Afterward, we went to customer service to request a replacement mattress for the top bunk of my bed because I felt the springs the previous night. We then browsed the gift shop, though we opted to avoid making any purchases, as Kel and I thought some items seemed pricier than expected. Following this, we enjoyed some coffee at the International Cafe, where I tried a Salted Caramel Latte and found it quite enjoyable. Upon returning to our room, I was pleased to discover that the mattress had been replaced—they genuinely offer excellent customer service here. Tommy and Kel are napping while I’m staying occupied by watching videos and writing.
Tonight is formal night. I’m not particularly looking forward to dressing up, but it will be nice. I will write more after dinner tonight.
I often feel uncomfortable wearing a dress. It makes me feel unattractive and like I’m trying too hard. Dressing up has never been my forte, and I much prefer the comfort of jeans and a T-shirt. Despite this, I wore my black dress tonight and look forward to wearing my lavender dress on the next formal night.
Dinner was enjoyable, with the delicious gnocchi, although the halibut was a bit dry. The dessert was delightful. After dinner, we relaxed and listened to music before returning to the room to shower and prepare for bed. Taking a shower and removing my makeup felt incredibly refreshing. As I wind down for the night, I have taken off my hearing aids and am listening to some videos with my headphones. Overall, it’s been a good day, and I’m ready to relax.
Tomorrow, we will be in Ketchikan.
