It’s the final day of September, and we’ve officially entered the holiday season. October is a wonderful month with its cozy autumn atmosphere and enjoyable Halloween fun! I noticed that Costco has some cool decorations on display. Seeing the spooky Halloween items right next to the cheery Christmas trees is fascinating.
I often struggle with eating. After having a calorie-counted breakfast, I hesitate to have lunch, trying to avoid consuming more calories. I spent quite some time in the kitchen trying to decide what to eat, but I left without having anything and just settled for a can of sparkling water. The carbonation helped me feel a little full. I plan to try again at one o’clock to see if I’m hungry and figure out what to make for lunch.
Alex gave me a package of the new, limited Coca-Cola Oreos. I don’t like them. They don’t taste like an Oreo or a Coke. They taste like a sweet, off-brand cookie. I gave the package to Karissa and saved a few for Kel and Tommy to try. Oh, and the Oreo has Pop Rocks candy in the cream filling. It was so weird eating. I like Oreos and Coca-Cola; I don’t think they should be paired together.
In coding, we are reviewing Git and GitHub. It’s good to have a review on this. Even though I had already done this the first time, I can’t advance in the course if I don’t go over it again. I wonder why it didn’t record my progress the first time.
I recently completed “Hill of Secrets” and gave it a four-star rating. My experience with the book left me with mixed feelings. Although I liked the historical elements, I found the overall story somewhat reminiscent of a soap opera. Considering the novel’s historical backdrop, I had hoped for more exploration of the scientific and ethical challenges the scientists involved in the Manhattan Project faced. Instead, the plot seemed to veer into predictable twists and overly dramatic scenes.
While “Hill of Secrets” does have its moments of intrigue, its shortcomings ultimately overshadow its strengths. While fans may be captivated by the setting, those seeking a compelling storyline and well-crafted characters may find themselves wanting. A few situations were disappointing, but maybe it is realistic that the atmosphere of secrets bred more secrets.
This past weekend was dedicated to cleaning, but we managed to surprise Kel with a Sunday trip to the St. James Tea Room. The theme was ‘World of Wizards,’ featuring a delightful Harry Potter-themed tea. I really enjoyed Earl a la Creme and Wisteria White teas, both of which were black teas. I want to make butter beer. The St. James Tea Room has a recipe for ‘butter beer ice cream floats,’ which looks good. Additionally, Tommy gave us the “Cooking for Wizards, Warriors and Dragons” cookbook, which is filled with unofficial recipes inspired by fantasy books, which I started reading last night.
I believe we are getting a refrigerator tonight. Kel and the boys may pick it up later.
