The sun is out today. Earlier this week, the weather app said it was going to snow today. However, it has changed to partly sunny. It does feel brighter when the sun is out and there’s snow on the ground. Hold on a sec, let me read about this.
Ok. So, I’m not imaginig it. Snow is highly reflective and bounces sunlight off its surface, creating more brightness than you’d experience without snow. This is due to snow’s high albedo, which is a measure of how much light a surface reflects. Snow has an albedo of about 80-90%, meaning it reflects most of the sunlight back, making everything around it seem extra bright.
The effect becomes even more pronounced on clear days with direct sunlight. On sunny winter days, this intense brightness can be overwhelming, which is why sunglasses are commonly recommended for eye protection.
I’m currently enjoying some hot chocolate after having my coffee earlier. I’m still working on the JavaScript for my calculator project. I’ve written the basic math functions and now I’m pondering how to implement those calculations. Google is truly a valuable resource during my coding sessions. I believe I’ve mentioned this before, but it remains true.
Yesterday, everyone stayed home because of the snowstorm, which was quite enjoyable. I took the opportunity to sleep in, play Skyrim and Animal Crossing, and watch some YouTube videos. For dinner, we had green chile stew, which was delicious and spicy! I believe we’ll be having the leftovers tonight as well.
I have a feeling I should be doing something other than coding, but I think it’s just my brain trying to procrastinate. Time to get back to coding.
