It’s warm. It’s 44 degrees outside and sunny. But it’s all a scam. I know what’s coming on Saturday. An arctic cold front is among us.
And isn’t that just how winter likes to toy with us? It gives us these brief glimpses of warmth, these tiny windows of reprieve, as if to say, “See, it’s not so bad. You can survive this.” But then, like clockwork, it pulls the rug out from under us and plunges us right back into the bitter, unforgiving cold.
The forecast says it’ll drop to the single digits, with wind chills making it feel like you’re standing on an open tundra. The kind of cold that makes you rethink every decision in your life that brought you to this place at this time. The type of cold that sneaks into your bones and refuses to leave, no matter how many layers you pile on.
So while today feels like an invitation to take a long walk, soak in the sunshine, and breathe in the crisp but tolerable air, I can’t shake the knowledge that this warmth is fleeting. It’s like being in the eye of a storm—calm, but only for a moment.
By Saturday, the world will look different. Windows will frost over, car engines will protest starting, and the streets will be eerily quiet as everyone retreats indoors. I’ll likely spend the day wrapped in blankets, clutching a steaming cup of coffee, and listening to the sound of the wind howling outside.
For now, I’ll enjoy today’s sunshine. But I won’t be fooled. Saturday’s chill is already lurking in the shadows, waiting to remind me who’s really in charge.
Today, I focused on the HTML for my coding project and I believe I have completed that portion. I find myself wanting to make additional tweaks, but tomorrow I plan to work on getting the images to function properly and to begin the CSS. I’m particularly anxious about making the site responsive.
I also started my reading journal, aiming to keep a record of the books I’ve read. I forgot how messy working with stamps can be, especially with the ink involved, and the drying time is somewhat frustrating. Nevertheless, I enjoyed creating the first page. Maybe I will put a picture of it up. I’m a little shy about doing that.
I took a break to help with dinner; we’re having spaghetti tonight. Tommy has band practice, so he will be coming home late. In the meantime, I think I’ll watch some YouTube and possibly play a video game.
