I didn’t get home until 6 PM last night, so I didn’t manage to write. I had my hearing test yesterday, and I wasn’t surprised by the results—I already anticipated that it wouldn’t go well.
Kel and I left the house at 11 AM and headed over to her dad’s place. Unfortunately, he wasn’t feeling well and asked Kel to reschedule his doctor’s appointment. He wanted to go out for something to eat, so we all left his house. We drove into the city, but her dad couldn’t decide on where to eat, so Kel opted to take me to my appointment in the hopes that they could get me in early. I was skeptical, given that we were almost two hours early.
Once we arrived at my appointment, I learned that the hearing test would cost $85. Ugh! After checking in, I was told to relax in the lobby. They did attempt to get me in early, but ultimately, I was seen at the scheduled time. I couldn’t help but worry about Kel and her dad waiting for so long, especially since they hadn’t eaten yet—something that’s not ideal given that they both have diabetes.
After my half-hour appointment, we started our drive back to Kel’s dad’s house. Since they were both hungry, we stopped at a Mexican restaurant called Hot Tamales. The food was good—I ordered enchiladas. After our meal, we returned to Kel’s dad’s house and spent about half an hour there before Kel and I headed home. On our way, we stopped at Dairy Queen to pick up a large lemonade for Karissa, as she had requested.
Tommy wasn’t feeling well yesterday but still went to work. It seems he started to feel a bit better by the evening since he attended band practice. I was glad to finally be home. I spent some time watching YouTube and then played Final Fantasy XIV. I tackled the latest raid, which is set in Jeuno from Final Fantasy XI and even features the corresponding music. With 24 players involved, it can get a bit chaotic and challenging to keep track of everything, but overall, it was manageable.
Today, I’m diving back into coding, which feels great, especially in the quiet of my home. While I enjoy spending time outdoors, there’s something comforting about being inside. I received a letter from my aunt yesterday. She lives in Loveland, Colorado, and every year in February, she sends a letter adorned with the famous Sweetheart City stamp. Loveland also offers a Valentine’s Day re-mailing program that allows you to send your Valentine’s mail through the city to receive the special Sweetheart stamp before it’s delivered to its destination. This tradition has been upheld by Loveland and the USPS for 79 years. I may not be explaining it well, but I’ve always found it fascinating.
Later in the day, I had a light lunch consisting of rice and eggs since I wasn’t particularly hungry. I’m uncertain about dinner plans tonight. Kel took Merlin into the city to visit Chris and Everest, and I’m glad Merlin has the opportunity for a playdate with his friend. Kel sent pictures, it seems Merlin and Everest are having fun.
This Sunday, we’ll be watching the Super Bowl at a friend’s house. I’ve forgotten which performers are playing during the halftime show. Also, I’ll be getting my new hearing aids on Thursday. There was an appointment available around 4 on Sunday, but since that coincides with the Super Bowl, I opted for their next opening on Thursday. Now, I’ll post this and get back to my coding.
