Happy Friday! Merlin is with Tommy at work today. I often feel stressed when Tommy takes Merlin along, as Merlin can be quite high maintenance, making it challenging for Tommy to focus on his tasks.
It appears that Merlin is having a rough day; he’s been standoffish and aggressive. Tommy has called Kel to come pick him up since Kel is in town. It’s unfortunate that Merlin isn’t doing well, as it adds to Tommy’s stress, so I’m relieved that Kel can help out by taking Merlin home.
On a different note, I’m trying to write a function that calculates the factorial of a given number, but my mind seems a bit clouded today. I need to look up what exactly a factorial is.
I had to ask Tommy for assistance in understanding what the factorial of a number entails. Now that I have a better grasp, I’m Googling how to create a factorial function.
Merlin is currently sleeping in the office. He was quite restless earlier and wouldn’t settle down for Karissa, and since it’s raining, he can’t go outside. I decided to bring him in here, and he soon dozed off. He seems particularly anxious today, which has me wondering about ways to address anxiety in dogs, as Merlin clearly struggles with it.
As for the factorial function, here’s what I have so far:
function factorial(n) { if (n === 0 || n === 1) return 1; let result = 1;
I’ll sort it out soon. Typing is a bit challenging at the moment because Sandy keeps rubbing against my hand, causing me to hit the wrong keys. Haha! I managed to push her aside and give her a bit of attention.
Ok, for the next port on the cruise we will be heading to Stornoway, Scotland. Stornoway is the largest town in the Outer Hebrides, a chain of islands off the west coast of Scotland. It is located on the Isle of Lewis and serves as the main hub for the region. Here are some interesting facts about Stornoway:
History & Culture: Stornoway was originally founded by the Vikings and later became a key trading port. It retains a strong Gaelic culture, with many residents speaking Scottish Gaelic as well as English.
Lews Castle: Overlooking the town, this 19th-century castle was built by Sir James Matheson, who once owned the entire island. It now houses a museum and a college.
Famous for Harris Tweed: While Harris Tweed is named after the Isle of Harris, much of the production and commerce related to this world-famous fabric happens in Stornoway.
Stornoway Black Pudding: A local delicacy, this type of black pudding (a blood sausage) is known for its high-quality ingredients and rich flavor.
Fishing & Economy: The town has a strong fishing heritage and remains a key center for the seafood industry, including processing and export.
Transport: Stornoway has a ferry terminal connecting it to the Scottish mainland (Ullapool) and an airport with flights to cities like Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Weather: Like much of the Hebrides, Stornoway has a cool, maritime climate, with frequent rain and strong winds but relatively mild winters.
I’m posting this a bit early. I just finished preparing the sauce for the tortellini tonight, and it’s currently simmering. Now, I’m going to do a bit more coding before wrapping up for the day. Merlin is asleep in Karissa’s room and seems to be feeling a little better.
