Happy Monday! This morning, I’m feeling a bit uncertain about what to write. I’ve already had breakfast, taken a shower, and organized the pill boxes for both Tommy and myself. Last weekend was quite laid-back; Tommy wasn’t feeling his best due to his ear infection, so we opted to stay home and enjoy some time on the computer.
Yesterday, we watched some racing on television, and I made significant progress in reading “Race Across Alaska.” The book recounts the true story of Libby Riddles, the first woman to win the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in 1985. It vividly describes her experiences during the grueling 1,000-mile race across Alaska, highlighting the severe weather conditions, the challenges of dog sledding, and the immense mental and physical endurance required to compete. Currently, I’m reading about her determination to push through a dangerous blizzard, which ultimately helped her gain a lead. Since the book focuses on her victory, and that detail is mentioned on the cover, it’s not a spoiler.
When it comes to books, I sometimes browse BookTok on TikTok to discover new releases. However, I question whether the recommendations are driven solely by popularity on the platform. This leads me to seek out other sources for book suggestions, as I worry that BookTok has turned into a popularity contest. I wonder about the actual quality of the latest titles and whether they are worth reading. Ultimately, the best way to determine this is to read the books myself. I also wish that the recommendations I come across would provide more context and details about the stories, rather than just a list of currently trending tropes.
On another note, I still need to pick up my medication from the pharmacy. I have therapy scheduled for tomorrow, so perhaps Kel and I can head into the city to get my medicine afterward, or maybe on Thursday. Kel has expressed a desire for a break from driving everywhere, which makes me reluctant to ask her for a favor. However, if I don’t, she might be frustrated that I didn’t reach out. It feels like a no-win situation.
It’s later in the day now. I spent time working on factoring functions and writing a function to remove duplicate values from an array. I’m a bit confused about the latter, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. I also have some clothes I need to put away. Perhaps I will tackle that soon, but first, I’ll make myself some hot tea.
Oh! I almost forgot to talk about the next port on the cruise: Glasgow, Scotland. Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and one of the most vibrant cultural hubs in the UK. Known for its rich history, stunning Victorian and Art Nouveau architecture, and friendly locals, the city has a strong reputation for music, arts, and education.

Universities: Home to the University of Glasgow, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world.
