There’s something magical about the first snowfall – the world quiets down, wrapped in a soft, white blanket. The snow transforms familiar surroundings, making even the simplest views feel enchanting. It’s like stepping into a winter wonderland, where everything sparkles and quiets down, adding a sense of peace. I also love the cozy, calm atmosphere snow brings, like a scene from a holiday movie. Snow days practically demand thick socks, warm drinks, and settling in to enjoy the gentle hush that blankets everything.
However, like any good thing, there are challenges to consider. Our driveway has quite a steep incline, which makes it difficult to drive the car up when it snows. Typically, we park our vehicles at the top of the hill during snowy weather. Additionally, driving in these conditions—maneuvering on slick roads and dealing with poor visibility—requires both patience and concentration. Since my car was totaled, I haven’t been behind the wheel at all. Well, I drove Kel’s car to get the mail when her car was up and running. At times, I appreciate not having to drive; navigating in the snow can be quite unpleasant.
Another additional point about inclement weather is that our power tends to go out frequently. While we haven’t lost power today, we have experienced a few brownouts. The lights flicker, and for a moment, we find ourselves holding our breath, wondering if the power will fail. Kel has informed me that the power has also been flickering at her workplace; she works at the vet’s office just down the street. Being on my laptop I may not notice right away if the power goes out. I listen for the kids screaming, “Why?!.” Then I will know the power went out. That and the annoying sound of the UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply).
I’m currently focused on the calculator project, having spent today working on the CSS and making some adjustments to the HTML. The calculator is coming along nicely; however, there are a few changes I would like to implement, though I’m uncertain about how to proceed with them. I know the corrections would need to be made in the CSS. Which makes things a little more confusing. If it were in the HTML, I think I’d have a better chance at making the changes that I want.
This past weekend was quite relaxing. On Friday, we took the car in for an oil change and then stopped at Costco for some essentials. Saturday and Sunday were spent at home, and we made trips to Smith’s and Walmart for dinner items.
Oh! I figured out how to do the changes I wanted done to the calculator. It was in the HTML that I had to make the changes to, not in the CSS. Of course, this change took me roughly two hours to figure out.
Tommy and I have recently started watching a few shows. We’ve been enjoying two animes: ‘Dan da Dan’ and ‘Ranma 1/2.’ Additionally, we began watching ‘Jujutsu Kaisen.’ I’m really liking them; they’re entertaining and quite addictive. The problem with being caught up in an anime is that you are waiting each week for a new episode to come out. Just like we did in the 90s. Last night, we also started Netflix’s ‘Queen’s Gambit.’ It’s been intriguing so far. The series is based on a 1983 novel of the same name and centers around a female chess prodigy.
I think I’m going to sit in front of the pellet stove here soon. The fire looks so inviting.
