I’m preparing Chile Colorado for dinner tonight, a classic Mexican stew featuring braised beef or pork in a rich red chile sauce. The name “Colorado” is derived from the Spanish word meaning “colored red.” I’m looking forward to the dish, although I admit I’m a bit anxious about making it. The last time, Tommy prepared it, and it turned out perfectly. I just hope I can replicate the meal.
Last week, we focused on learning CSS grids, and we’ll continue with them this week. I took a peek at our upcoming project, and I’m excited to apply both grids and flexbox in CSS. There’s a lot to retain, and I worry about remembering everything. Thankfully, I have Google as a resource if I need assistance.
I’ve discovered a couple of resources that aid in learning grids and flexboxes: https://flexboxfroggy.com/ and https://cssgridgarden.com/. I’ve been experimenting with these sites for a while now, but I feel the need to progress in my coding journey and focus on the upcoming project. While I’m definitely learning, I sense that I might be procrastinating by spending too much time on those sites.
Last weekend, Tommy wasn’t feeling his best, so we took it easy. However, we did venture out to Costco and Best Buy yesterday, where Tommy treated himself to a VR headset that looks fantastic. I spent some time watching YouTube videos and playing Final Fantasy XIV.
This year, I’m excited to be sending out photo Christmas cards. Tommy created some, and I can’t wait to see how they turned out and share them with everyone. I’ve never done a photo card before, so it should be a fun experience! It will be weird sending out a photo card to my mom, but I will and hopefully she will like it.
I came across a meme on Facebook earlier that discussed how Christmas changes for moms with older children. Unlike the days when young ones would eagerly await Santa and excitedly participate in tree decorating, the experience now feels quite different. However, I don’t perceive this change as inherently negative or even sad. Even though my kids are adults, they still find joy in the holiday season—it’s just a different kind of excitement. While the magic of Santa and the wide-eyed wonder of childhood may diminish, this shift provides an opportunity to establish new traditions and create meaningful moments together. Now, it’s about cherishing their presence and fostering an environment where everyone can relax and reconnect.
I need to start on dinner for tonight. I will have pics later of how it turned out.
