You might expect that I’d have more to write about on a Monday since I take breaks from writing over the weekend, but surprisingly, I don’t have much. Karissa’s glasses just broke; the arm snapped right off. They’re only two years old. I suggested she schedule an eye appointment to see if she needs a new prescription and then get a new pair of glasses. Right now, she’s wearing her old ones, and poor girl looked like she might cry. She seemed so defeated. Although she’s not as blind as I am, I completely understand the frustration of being without glasses.
Last weekend was enjoyable. On Friday, Tommy, Kel, and I went to the zoo and spent several hours exploring. Kel’s knee began to hurt, so she sat down while Tommy and I continued to walk around a bit more. Tommy captured some great photos of the animals with his new camera. I had a great time getting some exercise and walking around. We headed home just in time for Tommy’s therapy appointment.
Regarding therapy, I have an appointment this Wednesday, but I haven’t received any reminder texts. I just reached out to my therapist to confirm, as the last time I didn’t receive reminders, I discovered that my appointment hadn’t actually been scheduled. I hope my appointment is still on the calendar; if not, I can certainly reschedule it.
On Saturday, we spent most of the day at home. We did go out to get the car washed and stop by the store for some dinner supplies. After that, we spent the majority of our time on the computer. Currently, I’m grinding for relic weapons for both my black mage and red mage while completing fates. It’s going to take me a while to finish those quests.
On Sunday, Kel and I went to a friend’s house to play bunco. This was my first time participating since I missed the last gathering. While we were playing, Tommy attended a concert with a friend. I had a lot of fun and especially enjoyed listening to everyone’s conversations. I tried to engage a bit, but I felt a bit shy since I didn’t know many of the people there. However, they were all very kind, and I really had a nice time. I never managed to roll a bunco, but I did get quite a few baby buncos—haha!
At first, I didn’t feel like going. Just being my introverted self. But my therapist wants me to socialize, so I figured that I’d go and have fun.
Oh no! I completely forgot about going to the library last weekend! I had intended to update my account so I could check out a book. I really want to get a book. Since I mainly check out books from the library and not get a physical copy of a book, I don’t have anything to read at the moment. Much sadness.
My therapist just texted me back. He has an appointment on Wednesday, so mine has been rescheduled to Thursday. I suspected something was amiss when I didn’t receive any text updates. Now I will have to wait for the text updates for my new appointment. And I just got the text updates for my new appointment!
Additionally, I need to reschedule Karissa’s cardiology appointment since it was canceled by the doctor’s office. They instructed me to call and set up a new time, so I plan to do that this week. I would let Karissa do it if she could hear well on the phone, but it’s easier for me since I can check everyone’s schedule on the calendar before deciding on a new date.
Today, I’ve been coding functions and mostly delving into the topic of palindromes and exploring how to write a function that checks if a given string is a palindrome. I’m still in the process of figuring this out, so I don’t have the complete function yet. Here’s the basic structure I’ve got so far:
function isPalindrome(str) { // code goes here }
So yeah, not much there yet. I hope to have a working solution by tomorrow.
In other news, I recently heard that Amazon is no longer permitting users to download their purchased books for reading on Kindle devices. While this change doesn’t impact me much since I typically borrow books from the library, I understand why the book community is upset. This decision significantly limits user control over purchased content, effectively locking readers into the Amazon ecosystem and hindering their ability to access books on different devices or platforms without relying on the Kindle app. Personally, I still enjoy using my Kindle, but I’ve learned that some users were unaware that they even had the option to download their books until just recently. If anyone needs to download a book they’ve purchased, they can still do so from their Amazon account until the 26th.
We are having spaghetti tonight. I already started the sauce and it has been simmering for a while. I have to start the water soon since it takes almost an hour to get that much water boiling.
