I’m waiting for the kids to finish making their lunch so I can make mine. With four kids in the house right now, the kitchen gets to be a bit busy and crowded. Chris and Alex were playing with their Nerf guns, so I had to dodge Nerf bullets while making lunch. Then I returned to my desk with music playing from my Google speaker. A few hours later… they have finally calmed down. Haha.
Last weekend was long and went by so fast. Tom and I took Alex to Taos for his hockey game Saturday night. The drive looks a bit scary with the curvy mountain road. Thank God I wasn’t doing the driving. We got to Taos at about 6 pm. The game was at 6:30. It was so cold up in Taos. The wind made it worse. The rink is partially outdoors since the rink only has two entire walls, and the other two are open. I swear it felt like we were getting hypothermia. We only stayed for a period and a half. Alex took a spill, flipped over, and knocked himself out for a few moments. We told him he was done, and we left and looked for food. Alex is doing well now. We stopped at the Burger Stand. Alex has Celiac, so we needed a place that has gluten-free options. Tom and I both had the mushroom and swiss burger. I forgot what Alex ordered. The food is delicious. Not too pricey, but with three people, it can add up. I was still feeling cold, even though I was inside a warm restaurant. I didn’t feel warm until we were in our hotel room. The hotel had such a pretty Christmas tree in their lobby that I took a pic of it. I also took a pic of the Christmas tree at the Burger Stand. I didn’t get a pic of the tree at the rink. They had their tree in the middle of this round seat, and people were sitting there. I thought it would be weird to walk over and take a picture.
We finally got to our hotel. Which is an adobe-type architecture that is a staple of Taos. And New Mexico. It took everything I had not to crank up the heater in our room. I was afraid that it would be too hot for Tom and Alex. I did have to turn down the heat cause Tom said it was too hot for him to sleep. We were up till 1, watching this anime called Gate. It was an exciting story. However, I’m not sure how they will be able to continue with how their plot is… military fighting fantasy characters. Can you do an entire season or more with that premise? I noticed that with a lot of anime. The story would be fantastic, yet there is no flexibility in the story that you can’t see it being more than one season or even an entire season. But I did like the anime.
Sunday, we stopped at Gutiz restaurant for breakfast. The wait was so long that it ended up being lunchtime when we ate. But the food was good. Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive-in, and Dives had previously visited this place. The French toast was recommended, so I had that. It was sweet but good. I almost wanted something savory with it. Then we headed home.
Today, I’m studying a little and overseeing the decoration of the house. There are lights strewn over the living room floor at the moment. I should do Christmas cards as well.
